Hawaii GOP Chair Jonah Ka’auwai was named “Worst Person in the World” by Keith Olbermann last night. His crime: Urging Christians to stay out of the Democrat Primary.
Judging from the video, the “enlightened, conscious, and progressive” Olbermann wasn’t intelligent enough to learn how to say Ka’auwai. He also couldn’t say “Aiona” and appeared to have slight difficulty with “Mufi”. Olbermann could, however, say “Neil Abercrombie” just fine.
Olbermann seems to believe that Hawaii was governed by Queen Lilioukalani until 1917. So according to Olbermann’s “logic”, since Ka-u-way’s letter referred to Hawaii’s last Queen as “righteous”, and Governor Lingle is Jewish, obviously Ka-u-way is an anti-Semite. Marijuana helps people to accept this kind of illogical syllogism. That is why so many leftists want to legalize. It is the sacrament of their religion.
Hawaii’s usually voluble homegrown secular humanists are stone silent because they agree with Ka’auwai. For the same reason, Hawaii’s pro-Abercrombie media have greatly tempered their response. In a recent Star-Advertiser poll, Republican crossover voters were shown to be backing Mufi Hannemann 72% to 28% against Neil Abercrombie.
But the national groups aren’t thinking about short-term local political calculations. Yesterday Americans United for Separation of Church and State did something its Hawaii chapter has not—issue a statement. This of course caught Olbermann’s attention, leading to last night’s display of locutory inarticulation.
